Dr. R. Karamat Ali

Dr R Karamat Ali is a Dutch-Surinamese Family Therapist and Systemic Supervisor and has worked and trained in the Netherlands, South Africa and the UK.  He was one of the co-convenors of the Intermediate Course in Family Therapy and Systemic Practice in Plymouth (2005-2017). 

 

Professional passions include (inter)cultural competency, working with self-harm, triadic relationships and triangulation, supervision processes and emotional and attachment processes in people and their relationships (some of these he has also written about). In the UK, Dr Karamat Ali works clinically in the NHS (adolescent inpatient), and is the Research Lead for the North West Masters in Family & Systemic Psychotherapy, and is also connected to the Northampton CYP-IAPT SFP course.

 

Dr Ali also teaches, offers supervision and personal learning therapy in the Netherlands, where he runs a transcultural systemic supervision course.
